Baron of Alagoa ((ポルトガル語:Barão de Alagoa)) was a noble title created by D. Maria II by decree on 22 December 1841 in favour of José Francisco da Terra Brum, a wealthy merchant from the city of Horta, in the Portuguese archipelago of the Açores. The landowner had his residence along the margins of the ''Ribeira da Conceição'', and included properties in the so-named coastal shoreline of Alagoa (today occupied by the football field of Fayal Sport). ==List of barons/baronettes== # José Francisco da Terra Brum, 1st Baron of Alagoa; # José Francisco da Terra Brum II, 2nd Baron of Alagoa. In 1844, the title was extinguished following the death of the Baron;〔Fernando Faria Ribeiro (2007), p.163〕 # Manuel Maria da Terra Brum, 3rd Baron of Alagoa, following his service to the communities of the Faial-Pico Channel, King Carlos I of Portugal created Manuel Maria the third baron.〔
